So the story weaves around the adventures of Karen trying to find out why her husband reaches home so late everyday. Karens work is revolved around selling "Baleadas" (a type of taco filled with beans and cheese") hence the name amor y frijoles. & most of the drama revolves around her work place. Finally after all the crazy adventures of having an affair and trying to get religion to fix her. Karen finally finds understanding with her Husband.
